Update on Bible Study with Shawna Andrews, from Fall 2018
In early Fall, 2018 our Bible Study Group focused on Apostle Paul’s two letters to the fledgling church of the Thessalonians. We utilized Beth Moore’s “Children of the Day” work book and accompanying videos. Paul’s words of encouragement to the Thessalonians to stay firm in their beliefs, to live to please God, to continue to spread the teachings of Jesus Christ, and prepare for his second coming are also meant for us.
On November 7th we participated in the Women’s Night of Prayer and Reflection with Maura Sweeney hosted by the St. Augustine Mission in Wheelwright. Mrs. Sweeney is the Faith Formation Director at Annunciation Parish in Gardner. Her presentation focused on the concept that we are all called to Holiness and should live our lives accordingly in thoughts and deeds. It was a special night of fellowship.
In early December we spent an evening at Old Sturbridge Village’s Christmas by Candlelight, viewing the miniature Nativity display, listening to several pieces performed by the Northampton Woodwind Quintet, and enjoying a quiet dinner at the Bullard Tavern. It was a perfect night, with a little snow on the ground and good company!
We have just completed our study of effective prayer, learning why some prayers work and others do not. We used John Eldredge’s book “Moving Mountains, Praying with Passion, Confidence, and Authority”.
Bible Study is at 4:30 PM on Wednesdays, at the New Braintree Congregational Church with a study of the parables. We welcome all to join us. Please contact Shawna Andrews if you are interested.
